S’il faut dresser deux listes sur lesquelles on inscrira sur chacune les victoires et les défaites des Sao, assurément, il va sans dire que la liste réservée pour les échecs sera longue. Bien beaucoup trop longue d’ailleurs. Les victoires, on en compte au bout du doigt. Les défaites, on en fait toute une collection. L’histoire du football tchadien est triste. L’on s’est toujours demandé, pourquoi avec nous, ça ne marche jamais ? À cette question cruciale, l’on accuse soit les autorités pour être trop simplistes et indifférentes vis-à-vis du football tchadien, ou soit on doute sur la performance des joueurs. Mais en réalité, le problème n’est ni gouvernemental, ni sur la performance des joueurs, mais les deux !

À priori, vous approuveriez tout de suite qu’il n’existe aucune politique sérieuse préétablie pour le développement du football au Tchad. Le clientélisme et le favoritisme font obstruction à l’objectivité et à la compétence qui pourront amener ce domaine à prendre son envol. C’est notoire, on a vu défiler à la tête du ministère de la jeunesse et du sport, des vieilles personnes plus vieilles que l’histoire du foot elle-même au Tchad. Des patriarches qui ignorent royalement les besoins pressants du sport tchadien, et en particulier ceux du football. Fort heureusement, au dernier remaniement gouvernemental, un jeune de 29 ans s’est vu propulser à la tête du ministère de la jeunesse et des sports. Et selon lui, ce secteur demande à être assainis en profondeur.

Outre cet aspect subversif qui a longtemps outragé le football tchadien, les budgets alloués à ce secteur sont insuffisants pour ne pas dire insignifiants. Les joueurs sont mal nourris, mal entretenus et ne sont pas entraînés selon les normes internationales de football. Ils sont très mal rémunérés. Il y a quelques jours, on a eu vent des propos désastreux de l’ex sélectionneur national Emmanuel Tregoat à propos d’un joueur. Il le qualifiait « de moins que rien, qu’il est un pauvre qui n’a pas un téléphone ni la connexion ». Cet exemple, absurde soit-il illustre parfaitement les dérives du foot dans ce pays.

L’on ne peut seulement accuser les dirigeants en charge des sports pour le retard du football au Tchad. Après tout, ça n’est pas le ministre et ses directeurs qui affrontent les adversaires sur le terrain. Bien évidemment, ce sont les joueurs. Ces adeptes de la facilité et de la paresse qui s’entraînent peu, ou pas suffisamment pour être au top de leurs performances. Ils n’ont aucun respect pour les régimes alimentaires indiqués et mènent un mode de vie antisportif. Il est difficile d’imaginer des victoires lors des rencontres de haut niveau avec ces tares de comportement.

Le football, au delà de son caractère divertissant est un métier. Sous d’autres cieux, c’est après une très longue formation professionnelle que les clubs recrutent les joueurs. En est-il aussi le cas au Tchad ?
