L’ambassadrice permanente de l’Union africaine aux USA virée pour son franc-parler « anti-néocolonialisme français »

Elle a été virée le 7 octobre dernier par le Tchadien Moussa Faki, en sa qualité de président de la Commission de l’Union africaine (UA), conformément, dit-il, aux règles de la Commission.

Ambassadrice permanente de l’UA auprès des États-Unis, Dr Arikana Chihombori-Quao, d’origine ghanéenne et citoyenne américaine, a été remerciée par Moussa Faki pour son « franc-parler ».

Elle avait pris fonction en 2017, mais depuis, ses supérieurs la guettaient pour sa prise de position jugée trop dérangeante contre la France.

L’ambassadrice évoquait sans complexe l’influence disproportionnée et des fois catastrophique de la France dans ses anciennes colonies africaines.

Mais, au niveau de l’UA, l’on essaye de minimiser le départ de l’ambassadrice.

Sur le site officiel de l’organisation panafricaine, Ebba Kalondo, porte-parole du bureau du président de l’UA, défend qu’il s’agit d’une « pratique diplomatique normale. » Sa carrière politique est arrivée à terme, après trois années au service de l’Afrique, indique la porte-parole de Moussa Faki.

En ligne, une pétition circule pour exiger la réintégration de l’ex-ambassadrice de l’UA aux USA. Le recours a déjà récolté plus de 68 000 signatures.

Le Congrès de la diaspora africaine, initiateur de la pétition estime que l’ambassadrice a bel et bien été mise à la porte, sous pression française, pour ses prises de position qui « dérangent ».

Médecin de profession, Dr Arikana Chihombori-Quao, est en outre éducatrice et entrepreneuse. Elle est fondatrice aux USA de Bell Family Medical Centers.
