SIDA : 38 millions de personnes vivent avec le VIH dans le monde.

Tous les 1er décembre de chaque année depuis 1988, le monde entier commémore la journée internationale de lutte contre le sida à travers des différentes manifestations. Avec pour thème « Solidarité mondiale et responsabilité partagée », l’édition de cette année est marquée par une autre pandémie, le Covid-19. Découvrez dans cet article quelques infos relatives à la journée du 1er décembre.

Etablie en 1988 par l’Organisation mondiale de la santé (OMS) et approuvée par l’Assemblée générale des Nations unies, la journée mondiale de lutte contre le sida a lieu tous les ans le 1er décembre.

Elle est l’occasion d’une mobilisation mondiale contre le VIH/sida, où des actions d’information, de prévention et de sensibilisation sont conduites. Aujourd’hui, 38 millions de personnes vivent avec le VIH dans le monde. Chaque année, au moins un million de personnes meurent dans le monde suite à cette maladie. Et chaque année, plus d’un million de personnes chopent le virus. Selon certaines statistiques, ce virus aurait fait plus de 74 millions de victimes à travers le monde depuis son avènement.

Cette journée est aussi celle de la mémoire et du souvenir en l’honneur des personnes décédées de la maladie.

Au Tchad, selon le ministre de la santé publique Dr Abdoulaye Sabre Fadoul, « le gouvernement de la République du Tchad a vite réagi sous les orientations inspirées du président de la République. Les pouvoirs publics ont pris à temps les mesures appropriées et ont mobilisé les ressources financières pour sauver des vies et subvenir aux besoins vitaux de la population tchadienne, plus spécifiquement, le ministère de la Santé et les autres partenaires qui ont travaillé d’arrache-pied en vue d’assurer la disponibilité des traitements du VIH tout au long de cette crise ».
