G5 Sahel : N’Djamena abrite la 7e session ordinaire des Chefs d’État

La 7e session ordinaire de la conférence des Chefs d’État du G5 Sahel se tient ce matin du 15 février dans la capitale tchadienne, N’Djamena. Plusieurs dirigeants de la sous-region y prennent part.

Hier, le président de la République du Tchad Idriss Deby Itno a reçu successivement ses homologues du Burkina, Niger, Mali et de la Mauritanie.

Présent aussi au sommet du G5 Sahel est le Premier ministre marocain, représentant le roi Mohamed VI. Les Chefs d’État du Ghana et du Sénégal ont aussi fait le déplacement pour N’Djamena.

Réunis à l’hôtel Radisson Blu de N’Djamena, les différentes délégations abordent des sujets liés à la lutte anti-terroriste dans la sous-région.

Pour le Chef d’État tchadien, hôte des assises : “la problématique liée à l’emploi des jeunes et au développement fait partie des actions prioritaires pour lutter efficacement contre la nébuleuse terroriste.”

Absent dans la capitale est le président français, Emmanuel Macro, qui avait annulé son déplacement pour raison de la pandémie du coronavirus et les restrictions de voyages auxquelles il se soumet. 

Crée en 2014, le G5 Sahel est “un cadre institutionnel de coordination et de suivi de la coopération régionale en matière de politiques de développement et de sécurité” de cinq États du Sahel, notamment Mauritanie, Mali, Burkina Faso, Niger et Tchad. La France est le bailleur et soutien principal du G5 Sahel.

Les travaux de cette 7e rencontre prendront fin demain 16 février.
